1 IAS, 4 PCS officers issued charge sheet for Rs 3.65cr loss

One IAS and four Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officers were today issued charge sheet by the Punjab government for allegedly causing financial losses of Rs 3.65 crore to the exchequer during 2007-09 when they were posted as District Transport Officers (DTOs).
Those charge-sheeted are IAS officer Chander Gaind and PCS officers V K Setia, Parmjit Singh, Manmohan Singh Kang and Jasbir Singh, an official spokesperson said.
Gaind is presently posted as the Special Secretary of Higher Education while Setia, Parmjit, and Kang were presently working as SDMs of Baba Bakala, Kapurthala and Gurdaspur respectively.
Jasbir is at present posted as Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Amritsar, the spokesperson said.
The financial losses to the state exchequer came to light during a special internal audit conducted at DTO offices.
Gaind as DTO of Ludhiana allegedly caused loss to the tune of Rs 26.81 lakh while Setia as DTO, Amritsar caused Rs 85.39 lakh loss. Paramjit during his tenure as DTO in Amritsar and Ludhiana caused loss of Rs 87.09 lakh while Manmohan and Jasbir caused loss of Rs 82.89 lakh each, the spokesperson added.
