1 killed, 4 injured in gang-war

A juvenile was killed and four others were injured in a shootout that took place in the wee hours here today between two rival gangs in Neb Sarai area in South Delhi today.
The deceased has been identified as Rohit (16) who worked as a waiter in a restaurant in the same area. More than a dozen rounds were fired in the incident as police recovered twelve empty cartridges from the spot.
"The are two gangs who indulge in petty crime and are always at loggerheads to establish supremacy in the area. The leader of first gang is Ajay alias Chotu and Deepak Pandit and Vijendra are his gang members. The leader of the rival gang is Raju and Ramakant, Sanju, Anuj Deepak and Rohit are its members," said a police official.
The incident took place at around 1am on Friday when Raju and his gang was standing near the Hanuman Mandir at 'A' Block when Ajay and his associates came there and started abusing them.
"The verbal abuse soon turned into a scuffle and a member of Ajay's gang opened fire. Several rounds were fired by both the sides during which Neeraj, Ramakant, Sanju, Anuj and Rohit sustained bullet injuries. They were taken to nearby hospitals but Rohit was declared brought dead at AIIMS Trauma Centre," he said.
On the complaint of Anuj, a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered at Neb Sarai Police station. No arrests have been made so far as those injured are in hospital and others on the run, police said.
