There, the people were fired on allegedly by NSCN(IM) cadres, leading to the death of one person and injury to five others, claimed Sumi Hoho, the apex body of the tribe.
The people, who converged on the camp breaking down security barricades put up by the security forces, were angry as the NSCN(IM) did not hand over the four accused cadres to the district administration by the set deadline of December 25.
However, the incident could not be confirmed as Home Minister G Kaito Aye did not answer the calls while the mobile phones of Zunheboto Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police were switched off.
Asumi told PTI that the Sumi volunteers were still near the NSCN(IM) camp.

The Sumi people were angry as four NSCN(IM) cadres had allegedly waylaid a Zunheboto-bound vehicle near Aghuito and attempted to rape and molest two Sumi women passengers and assaulted two men accompanying them on December 21.
With the deadline passing, the Sumi Hoho launched a 'flush out operation' against the NSCN(IM) from Sumi inhabited areas as part of the non-cooperation stand towards the outfit, Asumi said.
A large number of Sumi volunteers carrying sharp weapons reached the camp in the evening at Mukali, 30-40 km from Zunheboto town.
The Sumi leaders asked the NSCN(IM) cadres to vacate the camp but they did not do so. After a long argument, the cadres first fired in the air and then fired at the volunteers, killing one in the spot and injuring five, Asumi claimed.
