Prohibitory orders were clamped in the city till tomorrow evening following the incidents, they said today.
Clashes broke between PFI volunteers and others when vehicles parked on roadside were stoned during the rally, taken out as part of the organisation's Founder's Day last evening.
As a sequel to the clashes, a 30-year-old man was attacked by armed miscreants at nearby Gajnur last night and he later succumbed to injuries at a private hospital. Two others injured in clashes at other places have been hospitalised.
The district administration has ordered all schools and colleges to remain closed today. Commercial establishments and banks functioned as usual.
Minister Kimmane Ratnakar, in-charge of the district, rushed to the city and visited the house of the deceased and announced a compensation of five lakhs to his family. He appealed to people to maintain calm.
