At least 10 girls of a government school in east Delhi's Gandhinagar area were taken ill today after they were administered deworming tablets.
The class XI students of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya were rushed to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP) hospital when they complained of nausea and stomachache after they were given the tablets, official said.
"Ten girls complained of nausea and stomachache after they were given deworming tablets. They were rushed to LNJP hospital by the teachers and were discharged after giving basic treatment," a senior Education Department official said.
As part of the School Health Scheme, the students are administered Albendazole tablets for deworming.
The third phase of the Delhi government's mass deworming programme, covering around 35 lakh children of government schools and Anganwadis, was launched in April this year.
The deworming exercise is conducted annually through a supervised schedule with school-based and community approach.
