Hundreds of students affiliated to ABVP and NSUI today held a protest around the varsity gate leading to a violent clash with cops in which ten persons, including five cops, were injured, police said.
Rajasthan High Court had yesterday quashed the student union elections of Rajasthan University held in August this year holding that the moral code of conduct fixed by the Lyngdoh committee was flouted.
The code of conduct strictly states that no candidate shall use any poster, banner, or any printed material for campaigning but contrary to this, every candidate has defied the rule, Justice M N Bhandari said yesterday.
Police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the mob who tried to block the Jawahar Lal Nehru road and adjoining sub-lanes near Gandhi Nagar police area.

In another major protest against the High Court's order declaring Vidhyarthi Mitra scheme of the state government as "illegal and unconstitutional", hundreds of Vidhyarthi Mitra who were retrenched from their jobs held a protest near Chomu Circle blocking city roads, police said.
Around 500 Vidhyarthi Mitras were demanding the BJP government to provide them regular re-employment as it promised in its manifesto on the eve of assembly polls last year, they said.
High Court in its order passed last month, has restrained the state government from further engaging Vidhyarthi Mitra against the post of teachers (grade II, senior teacher and school lecturer).
