"The 10 per cent cut on water release to partnering states will continue till further decision," a senior BBMB official told PTI here today.
The decision by BBMB not to rollback the water release cut was taken in order to allow more rise in water level which is still lower than last year's level.
"Our dams (Bhakra and Pong) have not filled up so far inspite of the fact that heavy rain has been witnessed this month," official added, while expressing concern that both reservoirs might not be fully filled till next month.
The BBMB's decision of not rolling back cut on water release was taken in a meeting with representatives of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan to review the water release here today.
BBMB had imposed a 10 per cent cut on water release on partnering states with effect from July 17 onwards in the wake of deficient rain in June and July that caused "alarmingly" low level of water in dams.
Aided by heavy rain in HP and catchment areas in August, the water level in Bhakra rose to about 1627 feet from 1589 feet as on August 8.

Similarly, water level increased in Pong dam to 1367 feet from 1322 feet as on August 8.
However, current water level in both dams was still lower than what it was in corresponding period of last year.
BBMB had already strongly appealed to Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan to use water judiciously in the wake of erratic weather conditions.
Partnering states get water from Bhakra and Pong for various purposes including irrigation.
