Besides, the court imposed a fine of Rs.35,000 on each of the two convicts.
It was alleged that the victim Sonali Ghosh's husband Somalya Ghosh had married another woman and he, along with his mother, strangulated her to death. The victim was five-month pregnant when she was killed.
Government counsel Manoj Tevatia said that Sonali was married to Somalya Ghosh in February 2007. The couple were living at a house in Sector 22 after marriage.
On September 13, 2008, Somalya and his mother Meena Ghosh strangulated Sonali to death, said the prosecution adding they tried to pass it off as a suicide.
The victim's father had, however, lodged a murder case at Sector 24 police station alleging that his daughter was harassed for dowry.
On the court's direction, the case was reopened and evidence collected. In 2009, police added murder charge.
