100 sovereigns of gold ornaments stolen from shop

At least 100 sovereigns of gold ornaments were looted from a jewellery shop at Sowripalayam area in the city today, police said.
The miscreants gained entry by drilling a hole on the shutters of the shop on the first floor of a building, located in a busy area.
Neighbours noticed the gaping hole this morning and immediately informed police, who rushed to the spot along with fingerprint experts, they said.
The exact value of the stolen jewellery was being ascertained, they said.
