A truck with over 1000 kgs of polythene was seized Wednesday in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, said officials.
The vehicle with the banned item was spotted by an Excise Department team shortly after it entered the state from bordering Punjab.
The truck reported for clearance at Mandi Mendikern toll post in Lakhanpur and was found loaded with polythene covered under bakery products, the officials said, adding the alertness of sleuths foiled the bid to smuggle the contraband.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and a case was registered against him, the officials said.
