1000 traffic cops deployed to ensure smooth Shab e Barat

Special traffic and security arrangements have been put in place to prevent stunt-biking and facilitate people in offering prayers on the occasion of Shab e Barat tonight.
Devotees offer prayers at mosques and visit the graves of their ancestors on the night of Shab e Barat.
"Around 1000 traffic policemen will be handling the arrangements along with local police in different parts of the city, especially in the south east, the central and the Lutyens' Delhi areas," said a senior Traffic police officer.
The areas around the India Gate will be out-of-bounds for two wheelers with pickets on the roads to prevent stunt-biking by youngsters, said a police officer.

"In the past, accidents involving stunt-biking took place on Delhi roads as scores of youth took to roads violating traffic rules," said the officer.
