106 villages electrified last week, total now at 7,445

As many as 106 villages were electrified last week in the country, taking the total number to 7,445, the Power Ministry today said.
The government has a set a target of electrifying 18,452 un-electrified villages within 1,000 days by May 1, 2018.
"102 villages have been electrified across the country during last week (from 18th to 24th April 2016) under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY)," the statement read.
Of these electrified villages, 23 belong to Arunachal Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 11 in Jharkhand, 3 in Rajasthan, 13 in Bihar, 2 in Chhattisgarh, 6 in Odisha, 7 in Madhya Pradesh, 2 in Manipur and 3 in Uttar Pradesh, the statement said.

applicable for consumers of five power companies which came into existence after restructuring of Bihar State Electricity Board in 2012.
They are Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited (BSPHCL), Bihar State Power Generation Company (BSPGCL), Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL), North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company (SBPDCL).
Other highlights of the new power tariff included increase in per month consumption level of Kutir Jyoti (KJ) consumers to 50 units from existing 30 units and connected load from 100 watts to 250 watts in 2017-18.
"This has been done keeping in view the improvement in electricity supply and in terms of rural electrification guidelines," the statement said.
Besides, the Minimum Monthly Charge (MMC) in all categories has been removed. Demand based tariff has been made compulsory for all metered connections, it said.
