11 illegal liquor factories unearthed in UP

Eleven illegal liquor factories were unearthed at two different villages of Aliganj Kotwali here in a raid conducted by UP police, officials said today.
Raids were conducted yesterday in Nagla Lachhi and Tapua villages of the Kotwali and eleven such factories operating within residences were uncovered, police said.
The investigation revealed that the illegal liquor production was being carried out in the villages for a long time and supplied to the people residing in the area, they said.
While police arrested one accused Shiv Singh during a raid conducted at his residence in village Tapua, the other accused -- Anand, Shiv Kumar, Narendra, Udaypaland and Awadhpal -- managed to escape from the spot, they said.
All the factories have been sealed and the apparatuses involved in the manufacturing have been confiscated. Several pouches of country-made liquor was also seized by the police.
The hunt for the other accused in this connection is underway, police added.
