110th birth anniversary of JP observed

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today paid respect to socialist leader Loknayak Jayprakash Narayan popularly known as "JP" on his 110th birth anniversary.
Kumar garlanded a statue of JP at the Income Tax roundabout and visited Charkha Samiti, the residence of JP here, to pay his respects.
The Chief Minister has been a disciple of JP and had actively taken part in his 1974 "Sampoorna Kranti" (total revolution) which successfully challenged the Congress rule in the country after Emergency.
Jayaprakash Narayan was born on October 11, 1902 at Sitabdiary in Saran which formed part of Bengal presidency under the British rule.
He died at an age of 76 on October 8, 1979.
As a mark of respect to the socialist leader, Kumar today named the ambitious four-lane 21.5 km Ganga path here as "Loknayak Ganga Path."
