As many as 118 complaints of sexual harassment were filed at the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) between 2013 and July this year, according to an RTI query.
The RTI was filed by social activist Anil Galgali.
In reply, Public Information Officer and Administrative Officer of Savitribai Phule Women Resource Centre Rekha Kale said 32 cases of sexual harassment at workplace were reported in 2013, 34 cases in 2014, 31 cases in 2015 and 21 cases till July this year at the MCGM.
"All 97 cases filed in 2013, 2014 and 2015 have been disposed off after following the due procedure while 17 out of 21 cases filed in the current year have been disposed off and only four cases are pending," says the reply furnished by Complaints Committee working under Women Sexual Harassment Prevention chief and 'Savitribai Phule Women resource centre' jointly.
The reply, however, did not mention what punishment were given to those found guilty.
"It is up to the department concerned to take the call on punishment, but simultaneously the quantum of the punishment can not be disclosed as per the section 16 of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013," it said.
