Though no untoward incident was reported from any place, schools, colleges, banks, insruance companies, courts and business establishments remained closde in support of the dawn-to-dusk bandh, Pradip Kumar Barik, General Secretary of the district truck owners' association claimed.

The truck operators also staged picketing before the district collector's office, national highway and state highways passing through the town.

The association has been protesting undeclared ban by Odisha government on mineral transportation by trucks affecting about three lakh workers engaged in the business.

As talks with government on Friday failed to resolve the issue, Barik said from May two, the truckers would oppose movement of minerals from the mineral rich district by trains and undertake an economic blockade.

The assocation had earlier also observed Keonjhar bandh protesting the movement of minerals from the disrict by trains. PTI cor SKN
