Twelve persons, including a
Samajwadi Party leader, were injured when two groups allegedly clashed in Vijay Nagar area here, police said.
The clash occurred yesterday when SP Majdoor Sabha leader Firoj Mohammad and his neighbour Dr Naeem, a member of Lok Janshakti Party, got into a heated argument over a fight between their children two days ago, police said.
The situation turned ugly as the two politicians, along with their supporters, resorted to brickbatting and attacked each other with wooden sticks and iron rods, they said.
Sources claimed that the two groups also opened fire at each other.
All the injured were admitted to MMG district hospital, where the condition of some was stated to be critical, SHO Vijay Nagar Virender Yadav said.
Both groups have lodged complaint and FIR would be registered after a detailed probe of the allegations, Yadav said.
