"Some armed men opened fire at Kareela village panchayat to scare away voters. They took away EVMs and threw them outside the polling booth damaging them," District Collector Madhukar Agnay and Superintendent of Police Vineet Khanna told reporters.
"In Lavankhurd village, miscreants damaged EVMs and prevented poor people from casting their votes," they said.
Six persons were injured in firing in Rari village panchayat and four others were wounded in Remjha village as the members of rival groups indulged in a clash and attacked each other with sticks and axes, officials said.
EVMs were also damaged in Pannapura and Prithvipur village panchayats while incidents of firing were reported from Nisar village, but nobody was injured.
The district collector said he had recommended re-polling at Lavankhurd and Kareela village panchayats.
He said that wherever they received complaints about faulty EVMs, the devices were replaced or repaired on the spot.
