Eight persons, including a BSF officer, were killed in incidents of landslides and flash floods in Jammu region while two persons were washed away by a strong current in Aboora stream in Budgam district of south Kashmir.
At least 23 villages have been flooded in Jammu region and authorities have sounded flood alert.
BSF Inspector Mohammad Rashid of 154 Battalion was buried alive in a bunker after landslide hit the Mandi Mandir area along LoC in Poonch district, according to Inspector General of BSF, Jammu Frontier, Rakesh Sharma.
Police said that entire population, consisting of 35 families, in a village was trapped in flood waters in Kulgam district of south Kashmir.

In Rajasthan, two persons, including a minor girl, were killed and five others of a family injured when a portion of their thatched house collapsed due to heavy rain in Bundi district.
Light to moderate rains also lashed some parts of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
However, people in Delhi experienced pleasant weather as the sky remained overcast during the day and light rains occurred towards the evening.
The day temperature settled a notch below normal at 33.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum was recorded at 26 degrees Celsius.
