Gen Abdul Karim Fayeq, provincial police chief in Kapisa province, said today that 10 civilians were killed and at least seven others wounded after their van hit by a newly planted roadside bomb.
The attack took place in Tagab district, where insurgents are active and regularly attack Afghan security forces, said Fayeq.
In another report from northern Kunduz province, two civilians were killed when a roadside bomb explosion struck a passing police vehicle, said Sayed Sarwar Hussaini, spokesman for the provincial police chief.
No group immediately claimed responsibilities for the attacks in Kapisa and Kunduz provinces, but the Taliban frequently uses roadside bombs and suicide attacks to target Afghan army or police forces across the country.
