At least 12 persons, including a Samajwadi Party leader, were injured allegedly in clash between two groups in the Vijay Nagar area here today, police said.
All the injured were admitted to MMG district hospital, where the condition of some was stated to be critical, SHO Vijay Nagar Virender Yadav said.
Samajwadi Party Majdoor Sabha leader Firoj Mohammad and his neighbour Dr Naeem, a member of Lok Janshakti Party had a heated dispute over a fight between their children yesterday, according to police.
Situation turned ugly as the two politicians along with their supporters resorted to brickbatting and attacked each other with wooden sticks and iron rods, police said.
Sources claimed that the two groups also opened fire at each other.
Both groups have given their complaint, and FIR would be registered after a detailed probe of the allegations, Yadav said.
