An FIR has been lodged under various sections of the IPC against unknown miscreants who had yesterday opened fire on the police van carrying undertrial prisoners by Sub Inspector Udham Singh near Mansoorpur police station on the Delhi-Dehradun national highway, they said.
A safari car used in the crime has been seized and security has been tightened in the area, SSP, Muzaffarnagar, H N Singh said adding no arrests have been made so far.
Narendra (30), a police constable was killed and five others injured, including an undertrial and three other policemen.
