129 people died in man-animal conflict in Karnataka in 3 years

As many as 129 people have lost their lives in man-animal conflict in the last three years in Karnataka, the State Legislative Assembly was informed today.
In 2010-11, 41 people died in animal attack, 22 in 2011-12, fifty in 2012-13 and 16 so far in the current year, Forest Minister B Ramanath Rai told the assembly in a written reply to a question.
As many as 520 people were injured by wild animals so far since 2010. The attacks left 51 permanently disabled, he said.
Wild animals were also at the receiving end of humans who have killed 203 of them from 2010-11 till last month-end. These include 62 elephants, five tigers, 17 leopards and 33 deer, the minister said.
