Three students of a religious seminary were shot dead at a hotel in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.
At least seven people, including the students, were killed in target killing incidents in merely one hour late evening, police said.
The firing in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area took place late night when motorbike-borne unidentified men opened fire on five students sitting outside a tea stall, they said.
"Angry people belonging to the seminary came out and started pelting vehicles with stones and set on fire tyres and ordered the markets to close down," an eye witness said.

Police official Abbas Hamid said: "We can confirm three students have been killed in the incident and two were injured and shifted to hospital."
He said earlier today, a doctor was also shot dead in the same area.
In separate incidents, a policeman was shot dead by motorbike-borne gunmen in Baldia while target killings were also reported from Shah Faisal colony, Lines Area, Landhi, Orangi town and Mangophir.
