The boy, who was working as a domestic help, was rescued by a joint team of Childline, Labour Department and Guwahati Police after some media personnel informed the officials.
"When Rumi Nath was arrested last week, some media personnel saw a teenage boy at her Assembly MLA Hostel quarter and informed us. Accordingly, we visited her house yesterday and rescued the boy," Childline Coordinator (Guwahati) Nirmal Deka said today.
"We have kept the boy at the Government Children Home and already informed the Child Welfare Committee of Kamrup Metro, who will decide about the case in its next sitting on April 21," he said.
On April 14, Guwahati Police had arrested Nath from Assam Assembly MLA Hostel campus in connection with her alleged links with the kingpin of a pan-India car-theft, arms dealing and wildlife smuggling gang Anil Chauhan and was later sent to judicial custody.
Assam Congress President Anjan Dutta too issued a showcause notice to Nath for her alleged involvement with the notorious car lifter.
