The latest killings took place in Lyari and Banaras Khan two major trouble spots in the city with unidentified gunmen killing two youngsters in the shootings.
Police said they had carried out raids in Purani Sabzi Mandi in the Essa Nagri locality and arrested some suspected target killers.
The wave of violence that has been continuing in Karachi since last month escalated yesterday when several target killings took place in which an activist of the Mutthaida Qaumi Movement and a well known trader were shot dead.
The number of killings this week have reached around 40 with the MQM claiming that 45 of its workers have been targeted in recent times.
Police said a close relative of a man wanted by police in cases pertaining to the killing of MQM workers was shot dead near his home in PIB Colony yesterday.
Also yesterday, three young men were killed in separate acts of firing within a span of a few hours within the remit of the Garden police station.

The Garden SHO, who was suspended following the drive-by shootings, described the attacks as part of ongoing targeted killings on ethnic grounds.
Ayub Baloch, 27, and his friend, Nadeem Baloch, 30, sustained gunshot wounds in firing on their car near Gilani Masjid on Ghulam Hussain Qasim Road, police said.
Garden SHO Mutahir Hussain said both victims hailed from Balochistan and had arrived to visit their relatives in the city.
