A 14-year-old girl died of electrocution after a high tension wire snapped and fell on her in Bihar's Katihar district today, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Lakshmi Kumari, a class 8 student of Kasturba residential girls school located at Bastaul in the district, Pranpur police station SHO, Anupam said.
The incident occurred at around 5 am when the girl had gone out to pluck flowers and the 11,000 kv live wire snapped and fell on her on Bastaul-Sanauli main road, the SHO said adding that the body has been sent to Katihar sadar hospital for post-mortem.
After getting the information, District Magistrate Punam reached the hospital and inquired about the incident.
The DM suspended the in-charge warden of the school Rani Kumari and also directed necessary action against erring school officials.
The DM has directed the District Education Officer Dinesh Chandra Deo to probe the matter.
