14-year RI for attacking man with axe, acid

A Sessions court here today awarded 14 years of Rigorous Imprisonment Rs 50,000 fine to a man for attacking another man with axe and acid in 2014.
Sessions judge, Shimla, Virender Singh pronounced the sentence to Sukh Pal, son of Magnoo Ram of Mandi district.
He has been awarded the 14-year RI for causing hurt and throwing acid on Pinku and committing offence under sections 323 and 326-A of India Penal Code.
Under 326-A section, in case of non-payment of the fine, the convict shall further undergo simple imprisonment for a period of one year.
Under Section 323 of IPC, the convict has been sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for period of six months and to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 and in default of payment of fine he shall further undergo simple imprisonment for a period of one month and both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Detailing the incident, the Public Prosecutor said that on December 3, 2014, the informant heard the cries of help from a person at Jatia Devi near Shimla at 3.00 AM and he rushed to the spot where he found Pinku crying.

Pinku told the informant that Pal had attacked him with an axe and thrown acid at him.
He reported the matter to the police and during investigation, site plan was prepared and photographs were clicked and videography was done.
The incriminating articles were taken into possession and the victim was medically examined.
The police registered a case under 326-A, 323 of IPC and on completion of investigation the charge sheet was filed in the court.
The prosecution during trial has examined 24 witnesses in support of the case in the court in order to prove its case.
