The raid was mainly aimed to check and curb the illegal menace of selling sand to consumers by contractors at exorbitant prices during monsoon period.
Deputy Commissioner Vipul Bansal, who held a meeting with officials, said contractors have been directed not to stock excess sand and will face action if they sold it at higher prices.
He announced that seized sand will be supplied to public at Rs 350 per cubic metre and should be lifted at the cost of purchaser.
