158 unauthorised drug sale outlets sealed in J-K

In a series of raids carried out in different parts of the state during the last few days, 158 unauthorised drug sale outlets were sealed, Controller DFCO, Satish Gupta said here tonight.

The step has been taken as per the directions of High Court, he said.

The High Court has directed that no un-licensed and un-registered drug sale outlet be allowed to function in the state, he said adding, the department has been ensuring that no such establishment is operational.

The highest number of 26 unauthorised drug stores were sealed in Pulwana followed by 21 in Budgam, 20 in Baramulla, 19 in Anantnag, 15 in Srinagar, 15 in Shopian 10 in Ganderbal, 9 in Jammu, 9 in Kulgam, 5 in Samba, 4 in Bandipora, 4 in Kupwara, 2 in Kathua, he said.

Some of the drug store owners were approaching the concerned authorities for unsealing their premises and the matter has been referred to the Senior Advocate General, Jammu and Kashmir High Court for the opinion.
