Acting on information that the narcotics was scheduled to be transported through the city, a vehicle check operation led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, B N Singh yielded the contraband haul on Hata-Chaibasa road early hours, Senior Superintendent of Police, Anoop T Mathew said.
Mathew, who was accompanied by the Superintendent of Police (City) Chandan Jha, said the police personnel wanted to intercept a speeding SUV without registration) but the driver sped away, forcing the police to give it a chase.
Following search police recovered 20 bundles of ganja, weighing 150 kg.
A case under NDPS Act has been registered in this regard.
Earlier, 400 kg of ganja was seized from an ambulance in adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district over a week ago.
