16 Bangladeshis arrested in Pak for living on fake documents

Sixteen Bangladeshis have been arrested by Pakistan's top investigation agency on charges of possessing fake Pakistani identities as part of its crackdown on foreigners living illegally in the country.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested 16 Bangladeshi nationals yesterday from Faisalabad district of Punjab, about 150 km from Lahore, for living in the country on fake identities, senior FIA official Ali Imam Zaidi said.
"An FIA team conducted a raid at the house of Muhammad Sraj at Chak 266-RB Jaranwala RoadFaisalabad and arrested 16 Bangladeshi nationals. Most of them had Pakistani CNICs (computerised national identity cards) which were issued on fake documents," Zaidi said, adding that the Bangladeshi nationals had been living here for the last many years.
He said the FIA has also arrested three Pakistanis, including an ex-employee of National Database Registration Authority, for their alleged involvement in preparing fake CNICs of the Bangladeshis.
A case has been registered against the suspects under the the National Database Registration AuthorityOrdinance, 109 PakistanPenalCode and 14 Foreigners Act.
Zaidi said the FIA has launched a crackdown in the countryagainst foreigners living illegally in Pakistan.
