A total of 58,835 job aspirants and 358 companies participated in the recruitment camp, held on the directions of the Chief Minister, an official release said tonight.
"A total of 17,095 letters of appointment have been given in an employment camp held today in Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar," Director, Department of Employment and Training, C Samayamoorthy said.
Out of the participants, as many as 6,453 persons got appointment letters and 10,642 provisional letters of appointment, totalling 17,095, the release added.
As a token of giving letters of appointment to aspirants, Jayalalithaa handed over them to five of the job-seekers in a function in Nilgiris district, where she is staying now.
Although such job camps have been held across Tamil Nadu periodically, the camp in RK Nagar has attracted attention as the constituency is represented in the Assembly by Jayalalithaa.
She won the seat by a huge margin and became Chief Minister for the fifth time in May this year after she was acquitted in an assets case by the Karnataka High Court.
