18-hole golf course comes up in Hyderabad around Golkonda fort

The Hyderabad Golf Association today inaugurated its 18 holes golf course with "world class" fair-ways and greens that is spread over 140 acres in and around the famous Golkonda fort.
HGA termed it as India's only 'heritage golf course' with all the 18 holes, 6000+ yards and Par 71 over TifDwarf and Calcutta Dhoop grass.
HGA started developing the course in 2002, which was once a garbage dump yard lay, and transformed it into "an eco-friendly" golf course without using any heavy machinery.
Treated sewage water is being used for irrigating the golf course. A few water bodies in the area have been revived and over 3,000 trees planted.

Many rare birds species have made a comeback to the area.
HGA President J Vikramdev Rao said: "We will be aiming to bring some of the prestigious International Golf Tournaments to Hyderabad, backed with this state of the art golf course.
