At least 18 labourers including eight women working in an iron ore mine fell ill due to severe heat in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district today, hospital sources said.
The labourers, all tribals, working in the mine owned by a private company at Gorumahisani had showed symptoms of sun stroke and three of them fell unconscious, they said.
They were taken to the sub-divisional hospital at Rairangpur in an ambulance and were being treated, doctor Chhatish Chandra Mohanta said adding the condition of some was still serious.
