18 more swine deaths

There seems to be no let-up in the number of swine flu deaths with 18 more people succumbing to the virus in the past two days raising the toll to 2,141 while the number of those affected moved towards the 35,000-mark.
According to Union Health Ministry data, till yesterday, the total number of affected people was 34785.
In worst-hit Gujarat, the death toll was 438 while 6,555 people were affected by the disease since January.
Meanwhile the disease claimed two more lives in Rajasthan, taking the toll to 428. A recent research claimed that about 65 per cent of people who died of swine flu at the SMS Hospital and College in Jaipur in January and February, also had a "high risk factor" involved and they all suffered from other chronic diseases including diabetes, TB and chronic lung disorder.
The number of deaths due to swine flu and related complications in Telangana rose to 78 with a fresh death being reported.
Twelve people have died of the disease in Delhi which has seen 4,252 cases this year.

The death toll in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh was 435 and 312 respectively.
In Karnataka, swine flu has killed 85 people and affected 2,889, while it has taken the lives of 56 in Punjab, 53 in Haryana, 41 in Uttar Pradesh and 26 in West Bengal.
The death toll climbed to 24 in Himachal Pradesh, 23 each in Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, 20 in Jammu and Kashmir, 15 in Kerala and 12 in Uttarakhand.
