A total of 6000 police personnel, including 145 supervisory officers were deployed for this special night exercise on March 6 and 7 aimed at ensuring safety and security of the people, a police spokesperson said.
He said about 38,000 vehicles were also checked during this special drive and nine weapons were recovered.
During the drive, 220 people were arrested and further investigation might lead to more arrests, he said, adding the efforts of the police personnel bore fruit as action has been initiated in a total of 2353 cases under various provisions of the law.
