19 animated features submitted for 2013 Oscar race

Nineteen films have been submitted for consideration for 86th Oscars' best animated feature film category.
Some of the big films that will compete in the category include 'Frozen','The Croods' 'Despicable Me 2', 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2' and 'Planes' where one of the characters is voiced by Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra.
The list of submitted films also includes foreign entries including Legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki's last film 'The Wind Rises' and another Japanese animation 'Letters to Momo', South Korea's 'The Fake', South African 'Khumba', Canada's 'The Legend of Sarila' and Brazil's 'Rio: 2096 A Story of Love and Fury'.
According to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, several of these films have not yet had their required Los Angeles qualifying runs.
At least eight eligible animated features must be theatrically released in Los Angeles County within the calendar year for this category to be activated.
The 86th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 16, 2014 while the main awards will take place on March 2, 2014 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center.
