19 Naxals arrested in Chhattisgarh

As many as 19 Naxals were arrested today from separate places in the insurgency-hit Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, police said.
Fifteen lower rung cadres were apprehended by a joint squad of security forces from the forests of Chintalnar police station limits of Sukma district, Sukma Superintendent of Police D Shravan told PTI.
Based on inputs about camping of 80 to 100 rebels in the jungles of Kottaguda-Morpalli of Chintalanar area, a contingent consisting of district police, Central Reserve Police Force's 74thbattalion, CPRF's elite unit CoBRA's 201 battalion and Special Task Force (STF) launched a special operation in the region since this morning, he said.
On seeing security personnel, Maoists who were holding a meeting started fleeing from the spot. However police succeeded in apprehending 15 of them, the SP said.
The held ultras were allegedly involved in different Naxal incidents of the region, the SP added.
In a separate incident, three Naxals, including a woman, were arrested while they were allegedly planning to plant a bomb on Bispur-Pakhnar road under Darba police station limits of Bastar district in a bid to cause damage to security forces, a police official said.

The ultras were identified as Somaru Mandavi (20), a 'janmilita commander', Samu Madkami (20), a member of Chetna Natya Manch (CNM - a cultural outfit of Maoists) and a woman Kisan Adivasi Majdoor Sangh (KAMS) cadre Manisha (22), the official said.
An improvised explosive device, a detonator and wire were seized from their possession, he said.
The trio were part of Naxal team that had tried to kill villagers by organizing 'Jan Adalat' in the area.
Moreover, a 20-year-old ultra Motu was arrested from Barsoor police station area of Dantewada district and a muzzle loading gun was seized from him, the official added.
