Nineteen Naxals including eight women surrendered Friday in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district, a police official said.
They turned themselves in before police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials at Tongpal police station, said Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena.
The surrendered rebels were lower-rung cadres affiliated to Katekalyan Area Committee of the Maoists, and were active as members of militia groups, Chetna Natya Manch (a cultural wing of Maoists) and Krantikari Adivasi Mahila Sangh (KAMS), he said.
