Acting on a tip-off, a team of CID of Assam, GRP and activists of an NGO, Childline rescued the children on February 25 last from the Guwahati railway station, North Tripura District Magistrate Sandeep Rajan Rathod told PTI.
Of the 19 children, 11 were from Reang evacuee camps in North Tripura district, three from Unakoti district and five from Patharkandi district of neighbouring Assam, he said.
Rathod said, investigation by the Assam police and Tripura police were on.
About 31,000 displaced Reangs of neighbouring Mizoram are sheltered in six evacuee camps in Kanchanpur subdivision of North Tripura district since 1997.
They migrated to Tripura following ethnic clashes with the Mizos over possession of lands.
