1971 Indo-Pak war era mortar shells found

Two live mortar shells of the 1971 Indo-Pak war period were found during digging of a lake at Kamalasagar in Sipahijala district of Tripura, the police said today.
The workers engaged in digging the lake under MGNREGA scheme recovered the shells yesterday from where another mortar shell was found on March 13.
Kamalasagar, a village near the Indo-Bangladesh border, had witnessed a battle between the armies of India and Pakistan in 1971.
The bomb squad of the state police expressed its inability to dismantle the shells and suggested that they be handed over to the army, sources said.
