Haryana Police has seized 1,506 boxes of illicit liquor from a godown at Samsipur village in Kurukshetra district and arrested two persons in this connection.
Following a tip-off, the godown was raided and 132 boxes of Indian Made Foreign Liquor, 1,235 boxes of country-made liquor and 96 boxes of beer were seized, a spokesperson of the state police department said here.
He said the Crime Branch had received information that an illegal liquor store was built in the village and the contractor, along with his associates allegedly supplied liquor in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Sale and consumption of alcohol was banned in Bihar since April 2016.
When the police team raided the store, situated behind a liquor vend, the people there could not give a satisfactory reply about liquor stored there and they did not even have a permit, the spokesperson said.
Officials of the Excise Department were also informed about the store and they confirmed that it did not have any no license. Thus all liquor found there was illicit, he said.
