2 arrested for burglary of over Rs one crore

Police today claimed to have solved a case of burglary of over Rs one crore from a garment exporter's office at Jama Masjid area here after the arrest of two persons, including a portrait artist, and Rs 96.80 lakh in cash has been recovered from them.
In his police complaint, garment exporter Kunal Bansal said his employees had kept Rs one crore fifty thousand at the office in Chippiwara on October 20 and had gone to the market after locking it. In the evening the cash was found stolen, said DCP (central) Mandeep Singh Randhawa.
After checking CCTV footage and technical surveillance, Abdul Hasnain (39) was caught from his house in Makki Manzil near Jama Masjid on Saturday. Rs 92.80 lakh was recovered from him, the officer said.
During interrogation it was revealed that his friend Madan Lal (42) was also involved in the burglary. He was nabbed form his house at Sita Ram Bazar the same day and Rs 4 lakh of the stolen cash was recovered from him, Randhawa said.
Hasnain said that he planned the burglary along with Madan Lal. He got a duplicate key of the office made and on the afternoon of October 20, he unlocked the office and stole the cash, the DCP said.
Madan Lal has a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Jamia Millia Islamia and claimed that he was had received an award from the President of India for his artwork, police said.
