Delhi Police's crime branch has arrested two persons in connection with a case of extortion in East Delhi.
The accused have been identified as Sanjeev Duggal (51), who runs a pest control business, and Shamsul Haq (65), a rickshaw-puller.
According to the police, the duo had on December 2 demanded Rs 25 lakh from one Lalit Grover.
During interrogation, Duggal told police that he came to know about the sound financial condition of Grover when the latter contacted him for pest control in his house in Vivek Vihar and he went there.
Duggal colluded with Shamsul Haq to extort money from Grover and on November 28 he called Grover on his phone and demanded Rs 25 lakh and threatened to kill his son, police said.
"On December 2, Duggal called him to put the cash in the rickshaw to be parked near Shivam Enclave. They were eventually apprehended by the police at the spot while they were receiving extorted money," a release said.
Two mobile phones, one scooty and one rickshaw were recovered from the duo, the police added.
