No one was injured as the coaches of 18422 Ajmer-Puri Express jumped off the tracks, railway sources said.
The train left the spot in the evening towards Puri after the affected coaches were separated.
The passengers were accommodated in other compartments, East Coast Railway (ECoR) said in a release.
The mishap led to diversion, short termination and cancellation of some trains, ECoR said, adding the 18106 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela Inter City Express will run via Jakhapura and Jaroli towards Rourkela.
Similarly, 18425 Puri-Durg Express scheduled to leave Puri today will run via Vizianagaram and Rayagada instead of its scheduled path.

Similarly, 58131 Rourkela-Puri passenger will be short terminated at Rairakhol and will remain cancelled between Rairakhol and Puri.
18304 Puri-Sambalpur Inter City Express scheduled to leave Puri today will remain cancelled, the release said.
East Coast Railway authorities have ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident with the report of inquiry committee is expected to be available within seven days.
Railway authorities, headed by the Divisional Railway Manager Sambalpur, Debaraj Panda, reached the spot with Relief and Rescue teams.
