2 brothers held for making bomb hoax call

Two brothers were arrested for allegedly making a hoax call about bombs being planted on two trains passing through Goa which caused inconvenience to public, police said today.
Collem police has tracked down the phone number from which the call was made to the railway authorities by the duo on January 5.
"Two people, Mallikarjun Pednekar (40) and Sham Pednekar (35), both siblings, were arrested on Wednesday for giving false information about bombs planted on Goa Express and Amravati Express," a police spokesman said.
The call was made to South Western Railway, following which Konkan Railway police and local police checked Goa Express besides also Vasco and Margao railway stations.
The duo intended to cause fear among public by disturbing the public tranquility by alarming rumours about placement of bombs in Amrawati Express and Goa Express, stated a complaint lodged against the brothers by assistant sub-inspector P G Patil.
