Satish Kunchikurve (25) and Suresh Kunchikurve (27) had been arrested on January 18 by Dharavi Police in connection with several chain snatching incidents.
Their police custody ended today and the two were slated to be produced in a court where cops were going to recommend the two be sent to judicial custody.
"The two were lodged in the lock-up beside the detection room which has a small toilet attached. Around 12 pm, one of our constables realised that the two persons inside could not be seen. When he went inside and checked, they found them missing. Then we realised that the two escaped after breaking open a toilet grill," said an officer.
