Two children were injured in a powerful blast in a scrap godown in Prem Nagar area here, police said today.
Rinku (13) and Shivam (9) got injured yesterday when blast occurred in the scrap godown belonging to their father Chanderpal.
At the time of blast they were playing near the godown.
Both were admitted to GTB hospital in Delhi, where Rinku is said to be in a critical condition, they said, adding Shivam was discharged from the hospital after primary treatment.
Chanderpal said that he had bought some old electrical appliances from Mundka in Delhi that included some condensers as well. The blast probably happened in one of these condensers, he said.
The blast was so powerful that it shook the walls of nearby houses and was heard in one km radius.
Locals alleged that hundreds of scrap dealers have sprang up in this area illegally. However, police said the reason of blast is yet to be ascertained.
