Six bills will be tabled for discussion and approval of the House during the two-day monsoon session of the Gujarat Assembly commencing Tuesday at Gandhinagar.
Apart from tabling of bills, the House would pass a resolution Tuesday to condole the death of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, BJP's chief whip in the Assembly Pankaj Desai said.
One of the bills to be tabled during the session will replace an ordinance, which came into effect last month, that amended certain provisions of section 379, which deals with punishment for theft, of the Indian Penal Code.
Through the ordinance, the state government had, in August, increased the jail term for chain-snatching offences from three years to seven years along with a fine of Rs 25,000, said an official.
The second bill would propose stringent penalties against unauthorised schools.
To expedite the process of re-development of housing colonies, the state government would introduce a bill to amend the Gujarat Ownership Flats Act of 1973, said an official.
